Great Reading » By Peter Alduino » We Are the Ones We Have Been Waiting For
We are the ones we have been waiting for
Cowards are men, who compelled to be right,
Cloak truth with night, vow detractors to fight.
Men twisted by pride, who power pursue,
Take pains to us hide, from what might be true.
They fabricate threats; they govern by fear;
They eviscerate laws, ere now held dear.
As for the critics, “label them traitors,”
Brand in our minds, democracy haters.
These cowardly acts, if not kept at bay,
Do country and culture slowly decay.
‘Gainst these cowards of men, Act! Tip the scales!
So much to reclaim, so costly to fail.
Let’s elsewhere not look, our world to restore,
We are the ones we have been waiting for.
